Today was Asian Cultural Day. As part of our Asia studies we completed different activities in our rotation groups. 1J made dumplings with Mrs Watt and origami with Ms Simondson.

What was your favourite part of Asian Day?

Today was an important day where UPPS and IJ celebrated friendship. We got together in our house groups where we made and decorated glasses. We wore yellow to raise money for kids cancer.

Yesterday 1J and 1F went on an excursion to the Chinese Museum. It was really great. We learnt so much.
Some of the fun things we leart and saw were:
– A Chinese Dragon- we learnt about the different animal parts that make up the dragon.
– Shadow Puupets- We learnt about shadow puppets, watch a show about the puppets and stating to make our own.
– Chinese ship- we sat on ship that was the same size as the ship that the Chinese people came to Australia on. It took them 2 months to get here. They came to Australia to find gold.
– Chinese clothes- we saw wedding dresses, hats, scarfs and lots of clothes the Chinese people wear.

This week we have been learning about celebrations in Japan. During the week we took photos on the iPad of different celebrations in Japan and then we used the Popplet app to make an image with information about the types of celebrations in Japan.

Everyone has had a busy start to term 2. There is lots of different things that we are going to be doing this term.

What was your favourite activity this week?

This week our Earn and Learn items arrived. Miss Joy was very excited to get everything she ordered. We had a fun afternoon using some of the items that have arrived.

We have been working really hard to make sure we do 5 star reading work everyday.
We do lots of different reading activities to help us learn.

This week we have been learning about reading the time. We have refreshed o’clock times and have been learning about half past times.

We discussed the different times of the days that we do activities. We know that school starts at 9am, healthy snack is at 10am and 12.30 and school finishes at 3.30.

This week have been completing the TEAM program. TEAM stands for Together Everyone Achieves More.  We have also been doing 5 star bookwork. 5 star work is doing our best work. We have been doing 5 star listening and sitting. We have sitting still and putting our hands in our lap.

Over the holidays the new playground was put in. It is every fun to play on.
